Dr. Kanazawa is President of the Science Council of Japan. He is a graduate of the Medical School, the University of Tokyo and is a clinical neurologist. Prior to his current position, he served as a professor of the Department of Neurology, the University of Tokyo from 1993 to 2002, during which he has been a director of the Tokyo University Hospital from 1997 to 1999. Since 2002 he has been Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, and Consultant Medical Doctor for Royal Families. He has served as President at National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry since 2003, and has also been President Emeritus since 2007.
